A true fairytale

Pulling hair and calling names transforms to

Messages from secret notes all too soon;

Then there be compliments from him too woo

The little girl who asked of the clear moon:

“Since you are so high can you find for me,

The love I read about in fairytales?”

The pensive moon thought and looked out too see,

And gave this answer to the girl’s heart’s wails:

“You, little girl, shine so bright in the sky,

therefore love you must first find in yourself,

This is key before you meet any guy

For fear of ending up upon a shelf”

Even in girls’ earliest days of toys,

Their self-worth and love is derived from boys.
