Trouble in Fair Verona

We were in love,

My god we were in love.

We didn’t care what they said,

Or how they threatened us with empty words.

All I wanted

All I needed, craved

Was you

In my arms, in my bed.

Nothing existed when we were together.

Not the feud, or the fear, none of it.

The night you met me on the balcony,

Your beautiful words floated to my ears,

As if dripping with sweet honey.

You compared me to the sun while the moon rose.

It was supposed to be perfect, where did we go wrong.

It all fell apart so fast.

We never got to say goodbye.

And reflecting on the beauty, and the love, and the absolute madness,

Now I truly know

It wasn’t worth it

I had so much left to experience

I’ll never smell the Oleanders again

Or tell my parents I love them.

I was blinded by my teenage dream.

My god we were so young.

We never should have sworn by the moon.

For she is constantly changing.
