When the sun hides beneath the horizon-
that is when they come out to play
When the dark settles in,
a chill creeps through me
enslaving me to it's evil schemes,
coaxing me to destroy myself
and allow them to lord over me in peace.
Left lifeless and out of breathe
I try to get up off my knees,
but the darkness inside won't let me free.
It beckons me to lift my head,
begging another demon to taunt me.
They sparkle in the twilight
everything they see,
they use their powers to bring sorrow from within me.
A shadow in the night you feel but never see,
following me everywhere,
it's echo haunting me.
As it drifts over you defeated you will be
because when the thief of the night pays you a visit
Loneliness is your destiny.

Amber Tears

I actually wrote this poem in August of 2012, it was published in a book of poetry last year as well. Honestly was sitting outside my friends apartment feeling down and alone, emotionally I was in a dark place and had been for a few years and I gazed into the midnight sky and as I lost myself in the stars this creation came to mind...I hope you all enjoy it.
