Time Zones (rough)

It is almost 5 a.m.

     and you are fast asleep

     with the bedsheets

     twisted round your legs.

The sun is

     beginning its ascent,

     and golden beams illuminate

the walls of your new city.

A breeze is

     blowing through a window,

and I can see your brow

     furrowing in protest,

making goosebumps

        run up

             your naked arms.

It is almost midnight

and I will soon be asleep

     with the bedsheets cast down

to the foot of my bed.

When you rise

     will you think of sunlight

     coming through my window?

When you rise

will you wish for warmer winds

     in my city?
