Thunderstorms

Everyone knows the smell of rain.

That sweet crisp scent that encases your whole being.

Everyone has felt the wind pick up right before a storm.

The one that howls through the trees.

Everyone has seen the lightning illuminate the night sky.

The one that cracks and makes your bedroom lamp flicker.

Everyone has heard the thunder rumble.

The kind that shakes your entire house, convincing you it's going to crumble to the ground.

But, not everyone has felt their heart race during Mother Nature’s temper tantrum.

Not like I do.
