Through free verse,
I don't believe,
that the pages of my life
can be seen.
Life was not made
to be described
in big, or small, words.

I don't believe it's that simple.
I'm seventeen, black, born in Maryland.
School is a thing of my past;
it's a thing of my future.
I like to read, eat, &
love to love.
Will my pages be coloured,
like Hughes?
No.
Like he, my page
is a part of you, teacher.
I am the simple,
yet extraordinary and valuable words.
So maybe...
just maybe...
my life IS described in
this page.
My life?
It's simple, more or less,
and extremely valuable.
