Thigh Gap

Mon, 11/24/2014 - 02:54 -- JEM

I don't understand why in today's world

It's sexy to be thin

To have so little fat, so little curves

It's just bones under skin

And among so many beautiful girls

Not one of them loves

The body they're in

And in today's world, it's easy to want

The illustrious thigh gap

And the kind of thin models flaunt

Where even chests are flat

And every starved and sickly actress seems to scoff

At my healthy curves

They like to call fat

In today's world, a girl like me walks through the halls

Shy and cautious

Because we have been taught that thigh gaps too small

Make us aweless

And society likes to take the time to point out the flaws

In us, when really

We're flawless

In today's world, while others waste their time

On the thigh gap allure

I find that I am flawless because I live my life

By opening doors

And instead of my looks, I let my actions define

Who I am, and that

Says a lot more

I'd like to tell the world that today, I declare

I'm more than a size

I'm the music I make, the talents I share

The thrill in my eyes

And that kind of flawless beauty is rare

And means more than the gap

Between my thighs

Wow, this is amazing! I love it!

So true!!! This is amazing!  There are so many girls who need to read this...

Beautiful! This means so much to me!

First of all every girl is beautiful just the way they are no matter if they're ten pounds or 250 pounds secondly this completely warmed my heart and I just thank you for writing this inspiring poem

This is the best thing I've read in months! The last stanza is my favorite. (: Thank you for writing this!
