They Say You Can Be Anything

His girlfriend never picks up the phone,

Every day he comes home alone.

The bills greet him as he walks in the door,

Reminding him that he is poor.

School loans still have to be paid,

Even though he made the grade.

They said “when you’re twenty-one,

It will be tons of crazy fun.”

But it only seems like pain

With fifty bucks to his name.

There’s just no job out there,

And now he knows that life just ain’t fair.
