They Say

They say we don't put forth the effort,

we don't put forth the time.

Yet the homework is a stresser

that entraps us like a vine.

 

They say it's for the greater good,

we need it for success.

Yet they've misunderstood

the importance of rest.

 

They say knowledge is the key,

we need you all to lead.

Yet is that for you or me?

Hmmm, the selfishness and greed.

 

They say education is life,

we have it to open doors.

Yet it's cast aside--

the poor thing is abhorred.

 

They say the choice is ours,

if we choose to fight.

Yet in those trialed, travailed hours
