These Careful Creatures

These careful creatures come out to play, I see them run, jump, and roll in the mud

They're like clouds on a summer's day, keeping a smile on my face and the sadness at bay

Always loving and there for me, protecting us from our demons out the door

They don't know that the demons are always inside, they're up in my mind toying with me

These careful creatures try and try again, but will always lose to my brain

A mind is a dark place, it's where everything stays, every memory,

Every heartache, everything stays.
