There is this Little Patch of Sunlight

There is this little patch of sunlight

Next to the place of which I sit.

It blesses my hope of what might

One day come to visit it.

Black cloth upon tan skin,

Brown coloring the depths of this soul,

Soft to touch and sweeter than sin,

I am happy to pay the toll.

Dignity is to worthless

As heartache is a mistake,

So of this I shall not miss,

In place his kiss is mine to take.

There is this little patch of sunlight

Now shining upon my hand.

It caresses with us, in the right,

Our glimmering golden bands.
