The Theory of Everything

Thirteen years old, home

alone.

My eyes begin to blur

Screen after screen after screen after

Click.

I’ve found something,

Stephen Hawking is on my screen.

The Theory of Everything.

I am thirteen

I am no scientist

I just like pretty movies and

pretty people.

Sitting, fidgeting,

Not expecting myself to

sit through the whole thing

Until

the credits roll,

and I am sitting

still on the sofa,

Fingers no longer fidgeting but

Tears rolling down my cheeks

Uncontrollable.

Pretty movies are not just

pretty they can strike a

Nerve

within you, Was that always there?

Movies, this movie,

One about a man who I have

Nothing in common with played by a man

Who I have nothing in common with

was somehow able to make me

Feel

something so deep inside myself,

Something I did not know was there.

I want to make

people feel make

movies create art that can change

If not the world, then just how people

See the world.
