"Terrible News"

Location

Your hearts entwined,

Your lives combined,

You live for each other.

From each pair of eyes,

I see the look of intense delight.

On the surface, and underneath,

You're the perfect couple,

And the perfect parents.

You make our lives that much better,

You make it all worthwhile.

Every day, I look at you,

And hope to death,

I end up as happy as you.

You give us the strength to fight,

And enjoy every bit of life.

As I heard the terrible news,

I sucked in my breath,

"You might leave us."

Fear turned my blood cold,

And the hairs in the back of neck rose.

Then, I imagined

what it would be like

for you to lose your other half.

And felt more sympath for you,

than my younger sisters.

And knew your pain

will be far greater than ours.

For there's a chance,

as much as I would rather ignore,

that he would most likely

love with only half of him actually alive.

He will have to sleep,

many endless lonely nights,

in the huge queen sized bed,

unable to fill the space she left.
