Tension

I hear his tone change,
I see her face fall,
I feel his frustration magnify,
I touch the stress erupting from her,
The tension grows,
The anger flares,
A silent battle.
A pain you can only feel,
Never see, never touch,
Silently compressing me.
Patience wears,
A sullen wave washing to us,
In time it'll pass,
But now the air is heavy,
Everything deary,
A storm of strain.
