Temporarily Friends

Dear B,

You hurt me
And I don't know if I can ever
Get myself back

But maybe that's a good thing
Maybe there were lessons I had to learn

Because not everyone has your best interests at heart
And not everyone who says they love you means it

Sometimes we have to choose who hurts us,
and sometimes we have to decide what we learned from that pain

From you I learned that not everyone is beautiful
Not everyone is good

Some people will never know they hurt me
Because they just don't know
But you won't know because you refused to see it

I told you how you hurt me
And you didn't believe me
You tried to guilt me
And manipulate me
And use me for your benefit

Well I'm done
You are only important in that I learned a lot
You only matter because you taught me
That life is cruel

Everyone who has been in my life
Has been there for a reason
Either to support me and love me for who I am
Or to teach me lessons, even if they hurt

And you, my dear, were always only temporary

Sincerely,
The Girl You Broke
