Tell me a Story and leave it on the Stage

What do you value? What do you fear? What makes you love? These are the stories I tell. The truth in which I hold so heavily in my heart. Come with me. Into my heart. Into my mind. The stage. Fall in love with my poetry. I see...Ma, brother, dad, sister and 'em...They wait in anticipation as the music begins to vibrate through the room. My body is overtaken by thoughts and emotions. I become a stranger to words. Instead I move..telling them about the Jamaican children..I know so full of life. The words reveal the story I try to unravel. I move swiftly like I was back there trying to embody the beautiful culture. I tell stories of hope and gratitude. I become them taking nothing for grandted. A student hoping to learn. A child yearning for love. Hungry searching for food. Sick needing medicine. Hopping that the audience hears me clearly. I stomp my feet to the edge of the stage. I finish in silence, making eye contact. Letting them feel what I feel. My last movement. Bows. They stand. Applause. Done.
