Teddy Bear Ursula

Ursula clung onto her teddy bear

Silver hair like waves in the sea

“To be queen - she who would care

That is how my kingdom loves me”

Her family lived by the cross

Peaceful by the ocean

With no fear of loss

Subjects prayed with devotion

When the 16th spring came

Descended Ursula’s holy trial

Instilling faith was the aim

For obedient civilians in single-file

They travelled with serenity

A moon passed in elation

Dark was the night’s identity

When nomads joined their location

The leader had the crow’s hair

With blue eyes that matched his son

Bringing food and drink to share

The two groups celebrated as one

As the cliff yawned with dawn’s approach

The leader-child brought Ursula to see

Her demise by his hand

As he pushed her to sea

When a monster steals your life

And another steals your kiss

As your legs turn to inky black

You black into the abyss

Why was the only way to survive

Was to lie into another castle

His majesty’s best servant?

What a hassle.

With the stringent guards down

King Triton never knew

His ‘most loyal’ maid

Would be bidding “adieu”

In isolation, you played the game

Nefarious schemes and confident struts

Brought you civilian loyalty

And closed their lives shut.

I wish to obtain what was rightfully mine

My kingdom on the seashore is the goal

But who says I can’t start small

By taking Triton’s water hole

So when I encounter the red-haired mermaid

Wishing to meet the human prince

“Raven hair, blue eyes, white cross”

I snatch her voice, ignoring the wince

Perhaps He is at my side once again

I haven’t believed since I entered this hell

The curse would enjoy a companion

Who knew to kill just as well

I took center stage in violet

He stared at me dreamily in white

Walking across the deck to my reaper

Singing in falsetto, ready to smite

The deal was sealed with wedding bells

Crashing to the floor, my soldiers stormed the door

Perhaps this curse of mine was terrible to bear

However, the gifts it gave me was to die for.
