Teddy Bear

I look across the block

And see you standing there.

I hear the clock going tick-tock,

While I hold that teddy bear.

Seeing you is just in my imagination

I remember seeing you run those fairs.

And going on all those fabulous vacations

But all I can do now is hold that teddy bear.

You were known very well by everyone around

They knew you because of your slicked back, black hair

And you’re ability to never frown

But all I can do now is hold that teddy bear

You would take me fishing at that beautiful blue bay

Where we caught that bright blue fish about the size of the chair

I wish I could go back to that day

But all I can do now is hold that teddy bear.

The true blue fruit you were growing started to die

And sadly you left us, even after all the prayers

You made us all cry

And all I can do is hold that teddy bear.

You aren’t with me anymore,

But anyone who questions me if they dare

Because they know into Heaven you will soar

And all I can do is hold that teddy bear.

You treated me like I was a princess

I knew you would always care.

I still remember our last Christmas

When you gave me that teddy bear.
