Teddy Bear

There is this teddy that I own
Though his story remains unknown
His troubled past
But time’s traveled so fast
My brother found him alone and weary
We washed him and I finally saw him clearly
His button eyes held a story
One which will always be blurry
He’s traveled with me as time went on
I forgot all about him until I saw the table he sat upon
I looked at him and recalled his name
“Teddy” was my childish shame
I love him so dearly
But I’ll never know him, really
He washed up on an abandoned beach
What happened to his previous owner who’ll never reach?
Will they wonder what had happened to their friend?
If he has another or met a horrid end
I can say my brother doesn’t remember him
But we took him in on a whim
I’m glad we did
Because he’s been my friend since I was a kid
We won’t separate, even as I grow
He’ll always have his blue bow
To me he’s special, truly one of a kind
Never another one like him, because he’s mine.
