Tears in the heart

Luke 19:41-42

Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem

41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

Tears

Where were you yesterday when I danced in the sunshine?

Did you not hear the music when the angels sang?

Don’t you like to play as words flow into rhyme?

Are you now a classic while your youth turns to slang?

You think serious is wisdom and a smile a passing sound

Whatever rings in your ears must come from deep inside

What will you pass on expectantly to your children’s account?

What if the free and playful sphere is what God provides?

There is so much misery around … why are you always mad?

Pain and sorrow fill the air and drown out happy voices

Don’t you see the bakery … of the small life-giving bread,

that God supplies everywhere as "His Tears" provide the moisture?
