Take My Pity With You
Location
I feel your presence, when the grass shakes a shiver
That’s when everyone hides and everyone covers
You paint sinister lines over clouds of silver
Stab your malice—your hatred, not backs of others
Never ready for war, never steady in youth
You shift back and forth from deceit to truth
Losing your stand, a sight not to ignore
Lay down your grief, and don’t lie on your sword
When you leave so soon, take my pity with you
Leave your knife beside, or you’ll take your own life
I know a downtrodden face when I see red eyes
So close them tightly now, and turn to the skies
For yet a dragon will die if it trades its water
For a handful of gold, or a bloody slaughter
Keep your gold, dragon, one day you’ll see
Your heart is barer than a cave empty
Keep crimson in veins; take my pity with you
Leave your knife in its sheath, or I’ll lose my sleep
Though it may be extreme, hope’s lie is true
Swallow your chances; no harm will keep
Make your presence, dear, and hold your head high
Conquer your enemy, that enemy’s you
Erase the ominous sunset over the sky
Buy a beam of the moon, soar through the blue
When you leave so soon, take my courage with you
Chase your monster away; no one loves a two face
The mist from your eyes turn from snow to rain
Let them fall from your face, cascading from skies
What caused a loss? Were the battle lines blurry?
Were you just another comrade lost in the fury?
Not to me, dragon, so fly on my friend
Before stolen time swallows your end!
Feel warmth from the sun, and as it sinks
It will reflect your scales and bathe bloody ink
Blazes now shrivel; rashness is vain
As starlight upholds, keep the blood in your veins
When you leave so soon, take my pity with you
Leave your knife beside, and find a new life
Close your eyes, and the dead man’s lies
When you leave so soon, take my pity with you
