Sun kissed

Sweat drench face, upturned to the blazing sun
Its kiss offered as a sign of pity
Wrinkled eyes not of laughter squinting, searching

Mouth clenched in frustration, nose flare
Taking in the bitter scent of hardship and toil
There's no mercy out here!

There trees are comforted by the winds embrace
But there's no comfort for the one beneath
Caged unable to resist the call.

What call? The call of the land
The land, crops all grasping for attention
To be feed, watered and nurtured
Harvest a continous cycle

There is no rest
Not for the farmer for many generation
Face always looking up, sun kissed.
