The Sun is a careless lover

In bleak season
I sought out your radiance
the warmth of it spilled
down upon me
driving away coldness
in grey days

I basked
drinking in light
like nectar

It is hurtful now
in this golden hour
the way you hold me
too close
your fierce touch burns
and I find
I now seek shade
