Summer in southern Spain

I feel like Julian Assange

Trapped inside a manufactured environment

Stale air re-circulating through the wall unit

No garden, no courtyard two stories up

The  heat has been oppressive for a month

Stepping out onto the balcony

Seeing if it’s safe

To let the outside in

But it isn’t.

This poem is about:
Our world
