Summer Downpour (A Petrarchan Sonnet)

People talk with nothing to really say,

Complete boredom makes my eyes watch the floor

But when I look up to observe the door,

Our eyes met as I see you walk my way,

“Lovely weather we are having today”

Somehow your empty words meant so much more

Perhaps it was the sly grin your face wore,

But a relationship was underway,

But winter days became spring afternoons,

Laughter faded into outcries of pain,

December romance to heartache in June,

This love was far too complex to explain,

It is no question I left far too soon,

And I still remember you when it rains

This poem is about:

Sonnets call for discussing love, even the ugly parts!
