Suicide is not for black girls

Location

There was a time I was told that suicides was only a white person thing.

That it was not possible

To get a reality check

To look at my skin.

I was told at one point that depression wasn’t for Native Americans

That they are too proud

That I was being white-washed.

Didn’t I know where I came from?

I was once told

That saying my thoughts on death was only me being dramatic

That I only wanted attention.

That my pained tears were false.

Suicides are not for black girls, for no dark skin girls at all.

If that is so, then tell me…

Then why did I wish to be gone?
