Sugar

Is it that easy? You shoot up, the pants come down. You get your money’s worth. I’ll leave the gain. Rusty lemon types, sour and boney. Like larvae, comfortable and worry-free. Days tick tick, living under a spell.

Just a kid, just a normal kid. -And in love after one night of pick-and-choose underwater, landing and collapsing on impact. Only if you really knew it is that easy, to release your life that quickly. Shoom Shoom. Pick the right holes to fall into, the wrong air to breathe.

Is that what you wanted? To fall soft behind hard stripes, a delicate jailbird, on account of your own decisions. Hard to miss when the aim is acute, cannot evade when you’re one with the tunnel. But there is no light at the end of this maelstrom, just rooms with no doors that encase your own.

Dedicated to a friend I lost to substance absuse.
