Such Beautiful Bliss

Who is that person staring back at me?
I see a lovely girl,
Fun loving and talkative.
She touches her face
Uttering astonishment.

I am the girl in the mirror,
Her joyous smile is now sickening to me,
A gorgeous grave;
Though an empty heart lies beneath.
Who is she,
certainly not me.

We may share the same body, but
In no way are we the same person.
The smiling girl lifts her curling iron,
Even her wrists look happy.
The aura of burning flesh,
Filling the room with its pungent scent.

Still smiling she is,
Almost happier even.
Seeming as though the searing,
Sizzle through each skins layer,
In fact, creates joy.

Blood drapes around her limbs,
Their vessels burst open.
Breathing calmly
The iron moves to her neck,
Everywhere else as well.

Slowly an image appears before her,
A small child,
Happy as can be.
Her heart full of love and prosperity.
The image becoming clearer,
Is now a reality in her own way.

Remembrance of days,
Once simple and unknowing.
Ignorance is bliss,
I used to be blissful.
Until I met life's cold harsh reality,
Myself,
A woman,
Then a girl in death.

Who knew something so,
Dreaded could be so,
Releasing.

Such Beautiful Bliss...
