Success is in The Eyes of the Beholder

Music is a passion, not a job. Remember that

Whether you're being paid, or singing for the love of it

Don't get caught up in the moment

Remember your voice is a gift, don't boast

Keep it your little secret

Surprise people when you open your mouth

Leave them speechless

If you see your audience in awe, you are successful

Sing it like you mean it

Love every word in the song

Understand the words you're singing

Make others feel that they know too

Sing like you're telling a story

Be energetic

If you see your audience smiling, you are successful

Get so nervous you think you want to leave

Feel your heart pounding through your chest

Remember the adrenaline

Then play your heart out

Convince the people you're calm and collected

You should leave the stage out of breath and ready for rest

But also wishing you could sing "just one more song"

When your fingers cramp from hitting the keys and the tips bleep from strumming the strings, you are successful.

There will be criticism

You have to have the strength to make it seem like it doesn't phase you

Surround yourself with people who do nothing but support you

Listen to the good, shut out the bad

If you are able to smile through it all, you are successful

Let music be there for you when everything around you falls

Lyrics are far more powerful than any advice someone could give

Music finds the missing pieces and puts them back together

Make music who you are, not something you do

Love every song you sing

Every note you play

And you will be a successful musician.
