Submersion

I see the light slowly filtering from above

Soft arrows of luminance piercing the water

As waves rock me gently

Swish swoosh

Swish swoosh

Bubbles form and swim hurriedly towards freedom

My hand strains to follow

Reaching out to them in fruitless ardour

Efforts deemed barren

I look on

Floating within a sea of silence

Still

I shut my eyes

And retreat into the warmth

The embrace of the fluid ambience

This poem is about:
Me
