The Struggle

Location

You sit at your desk and criticize me

You worry too much about my looks

You wonder why I doze off in class

Which usually leaves drool on my books

Class isn’t exciting

You bore me with lectures

Only if you understood

High school comes with many measures

I wish you would make things interesting

Maybe involve some tweeting

If I could learn lessons through social media

I would love first row seating

I am just a girl

Trying to make it through the day

My only concern is that you don’t ask

“Excuse me dear, what did you say?”

You don’t understand my struggle

Or maybe you just don’t care

My home life isn’t the best

And I feel that isn’t fair

I just want to be noticed

Cared for and loved

If only class consisted of these traits

I would feel as if I’m sitting high and above.
