The Strongest Facade

Hercules Johnston
Known throughout Olympus High as "Herc"
The classic jock: strong, athletic, popular
Revered far and wide for his incomparable strength
But his true strength is lesser known
It lies not in his muscles, but in his mind
At school he is always smiling, laughing
But at home, he let's the mask fall away
At school he holds back the tears
But at home he let's them flow like a river, both refreshing and destructive
His father is an athlete, the famous Zeus "Lightning Bolt" Johnston
But Zeus is never around
He left Herc's mom years ago
And everyday, Herc has to pick up the pieces
He comforts his mom, pays the bills
And despite the strain his father has put on his life
His father is his role model
He longs to be like him
Rich, famous, and without a care
So he has perfected his mask
And he wears it diligently
Awaiting the day when the mask of happiness
Becomes his reality.
