Strong Eyes, Blind Heart

Oh so many nights I threw away
praying to a god that does not exist
to chase away my heartbreak
to place a love between my fists.
I was blinded by my ignorance
how foolish I was not to see
that while I was passively praying
my love stood right next to me.
Holding my hand he stood
wiping my tears he laid
"but oh he is just a friend"
my mind refused to be swayed.
So many nights I threw away
while you my dear,
you waited.
So many days I failed to see
that just a glance in my eyes had you captivated.
So my dear all I can say is I'm sorry
I am stubborn, you know that it's true.
But thank you for giving me glasses
so I can finally see,
I love you.
