Strength from Weakness

He was confused and in pain

From the malady in his brain.

He had no idea it had been there all along.

I realized that I needed to be strong.

But in that moment, all I could whisper

Was a simple “I love you.”

He had been there for me all along,

Even before I was born.

And with this, I felt that his loss

I would soon mourn.

I have to admit, I did cry.

A single tear fell from my eye.

Years later, he’s still by my side.

He swears that he is the luckiest guy.

He fights so hard every single day.

And since then, I have never been the same.

But I am grateful for the time that I’ve had

And every single moment I have shared with my dad.

Me
My family
