Strangers

We all begin as strangers

no matter the connection we feel

instantaneous

or slow burning

we start out as strangers

foreign to each other

Our bodies

are lands we have never seen

and long to be explored

by fingertips

and hungry eyes

till every freckle constellation

is mapped

and every curve

and bump

is tested

in hopes

that we won’t

forever be strangers

But its funny how fate works

We came together as strangers

and we thought we were allies

until

peace talks broke down

and the wanderers

were kicked out

of each country

the maps burned

and the sights were forgotten

and we left as

strangers

again.
