Stories

Every time my Dad's family hangs out, they tell a story.

Whether the story is old or new, they tell them all.

At my former church the congregation was my family,

every event or close gathering we had I heard more stories.

Whenever I make a new group of friends, we all share stories

stories, a piece of an individual that brings you closer.

Some stories are tragic, some disturbing,

But hopefully most joyous and comedic.

Stories are the things that inspire me as an individual.

It’s quite fascinating, learning that you can know so little about someone

and a simple memory being recanted to you can bring you closer.

Stories are what we all are made of,

The things that built our character's and skills.

It pushes me to live more and to explore more.

To build my character and archive of stories

so that the next set of people in my life may meet me to be a part of that story

or simply an audience of its retelling.

My inspiration in life is to treasure, tell, and reminisce over stories,

While creating my own.
