Stop at Stop Signs, Life is Waiting

Two years ago, you slammed on the gas
Caught up in a “love” that wasn’t meant to last
Two years ago, you said goodbye
Not realizing it would be the very last time
Two years ago, I got a call
I felt so hopeless; I couldn’t do anything at all
Two years ago, you drove through that sign
The other woman couldn’t stop on a dime
Two years ago, you were hit on the driver’s side
All for a boy who only knew how to lie
Two years ago, they had to fly you far away
You knew better, but you couldn’t keep your feelings at bay
Two years ago, you were making some serious changes
I was terribly frustrated and we had some harsh exchanges
Two years ago, you always tried to make things right
But no matter what you did for him, it always ended in a vicious fight
Two years ago, you had plenty of support
But you wouldn’t leave, even if it was your last resort
Two years ago, you made a choice
I wish you would’ve listened to that still, small voice
Two years ago, your heart was so full of love
Now there’s a deep ache we’re all struggling to get rid of
Two years ago, you convinced us everything was fine
Now everyone knows the value of Stop At Stop Signs
Two years ago, things with him were escalating
But when you sacrifice for love you'll find that Life is Waiting
Two years ago, God committed an act of grace
He knew that you didn’t belong in that place
Two years ago, you were imprisoned in hell on Earth
Now my baby girl is in a marvelous place - one where she knows her own worth
