Though others were ashamed
of the color that told are history
The pain and struggle,
Not knowing what tomorrow
held in the eyes of the oppressors
that stopped our growth.
We pushed and still kept pushing.
Through the tears and slammed doors
pushed to the back like old mold.
Spitted on and mistreated.
We pushed and still kept pushing.
Leaders standing and falling.
Cause others hatred continued.
We cried, but kept pushing.
Change was our desire
As we pushed through the fire.
We excelled but we need to keep pushing.
