Still Happening
Still happening.
Marched for nothing?
Television tells me that,
we did not win the rights we asked for.
As women,
as men,
as people.
People in a society that should consider us that,
People.
Still happening.
Died for nothing?
School hallways tell me that,
we did not gain the respect we fought for.
As young girls,
as young boys,
as people.
People in a country that should consider us that,
people.
Still happening.
And why –
with all that we’ve accomplished
we still don’t have what we want,
to be people to everyone.
