Staring in the Glass

Staring in the glass

I see not my reflection

But instead the reflection of a shell

A shell that contains the genuine me

The tender woman

Whom is the definition of being more than what others perceieve

The woman ignited by the unexplained

Urged by mystery, by curiosity

Longing to soar and unearth everything under the sky

A woman who comes to life under the night's light

Fueled by adventure

Interest taken by things that others may push aside

The woman who hides herself because she has too much pride

Staring at the glass

I acknowledge my shell

A smile, and a laugh

A voice that only exits when felt necessary

To others I am antisocial and cold

Only I am much more

But, I am also a woman whom hides behind this shell

In fear that in some way, vulnerability will escape

I am a work in progress

I am superwoman

Hiding my true depths behind a cape

Staring in the glass

I see what others see

But I can also see what's underneath
