Star Spangled Banner of Today

Location

Botswana

O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,

A white cop shooting an unarmed black boy on your street in Florida?

What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming,

Now wants to strip us of our human right to see a doctor.

Whose broad stripes and bright stars sewn by the women working twice as hard to make half as much of a man who complains they are worthless.

And not much has changed since then.

And the ramparts we watch'd that were so gallantly streaming?

The rocket's red glare, the bomb bursting in air,

Now a missile strike in Syria.

Which gave proof through the night that our flag, so honored, so revered,

Is just a piece of fabric.

O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I can’t tell anymore.
