A star called Justice

Every night I look to the stars above

Just barely seeing past metal bars

Now consumed by rust

I see one that sings it’s beauty to me.

And it lights a beautiful fire within me

But it’s a reverse shooting star

Shrinking below the very size of an atom

Moving farther than even the universe sees

As the wishes I shoot towards it

Always miss

But it entices me night after night.

When I look up to it

I feel my feet rise as it floats away

I can’t stop myself from reaching towards it

Like a chain inevitably connects the two of us.

And tonight feels like a night like no other

Because I grab that chain of hope

And climb higher than ever before

To break the the bars that imprison me

That try to contain me

And reach for my justice star.
