stand down

stand down

stand down they say, dont be so loud

your too young to understand

if only they knew

about the kid whose parents would never accept them for who they are

the kid who would be in danger of being kicked out of their home if they told the truth about their life

the kid who watches what he eats even though hes thin as a stick and whose parents wont listen to his cries

the kid whom all the parents hat because shes too clingy but she really has untreated anxiety and depression that make it hard for her to function

the kid who screams for help and whose cries go unoticed

the kid who is failing all their classes beacause their dad wont let them take ADHD medicaion

the kid who was raped in science class whose eachers didnt believe her

the kid who doesnt have to energy to do anything because life has lost its luster

yes, stand down child, you dont know how this world works

you dont know any real things

why do you care about racism and sexism and homophobia when  there could be communists in our country

stand down

we will stand down no longer

we will push through the barriers set by our elders

we will make change

and you will not be a part of it

we will not stand down
