Southern Living

Location

Because I was taught that hard work is everything.
That you weren't giving it your all until the river ran wild with sweat and tears.
That the only thing that remained constant was family.
That good will and fortune was given but never received.
That religion will get one through any undesired circumstance.
That "treatment" for any condition is horseback riding down woods and beaten paths.
That the only insult was being called a hick as opposed to redneck.
That trouble meant working late without telling ones spouse.
That solving problems meant face-to-face and not online, or through someone else.
That a funny book was a copy of "southern living," because what a lie that was.
That marriage was a promise not a "fling."
That one never takes a day off because they're feeling "tired."
That extraordinary measures are taken to provide for the family.
That under no circumstance EVER do you hit a woman: for the world will come down on you.
That if you get the chance then go to school, but always come back home.
Because I was taught that hard work is everything.
