Soulmate

I'm waiting

tonight I'm waiting for your call,

last week I waited for your call

I've been waiting for years

I know, your straight

You like boys

You like men

I see us

Coming home to

The warmth of your body against mine,

I know,

You’re straight,

You like boys,

You like men,

You asked “who's the cutest guy in this class?”

And I lied,

Chose a random boy

I know your straight,

You like boys,

You like men,

Remember Jake,

The way he broke the smoke detector of your heart,

The way his flames wrapped you in the boiling pot

Remember Jacob

The mask of his smile hid his killer teeth

the baggy pants hid his thorny body.

Did I  force you in a burning room?

Did I have thorns piercing your skin?

I couldn’t protect you,

Couldn’t wrap your heart in fire blankets,

Couldn’t be a firefighter of your mind,

I will be your fire extinguisher,

I will be your smoke detector

I know, your straight,

You like boys,

You like men,

what if I was a man?

I'm not saying I'd become a man for you,

But hell, I would.

I’m a woman,

I'm a man,

I'm straight,

I'm lesbian,

I'm smart,

Im stupid,

I'm neutral

Let's get one thing straight,

you are the dreams of my life

So I'll wait here,

Laying on my bed,

birds come and go on the latch of my window,

Fallen leaves, fallen colors, fallen flowers,

Leaves, colors, flowers,

Leaves, colors, flowers

I’m still waiting for your call.
