Sonnet For a Dream

In early morning when I first awake
I feel the dew of sorrow on my brow
I rise and breathe in sunshine and heart ache
Longing to be there with you right now

But how should someone small and meek as me
Be able to afford your lavish graces?
I hope while you're away you take your leave
Of those who look upon the world with darkened faces

I shrink away at times because I know
That my love remains until the very day
I in your arms a humble violet grow
And hear the beauty of three words you say

And yet I've felt fate whisper in my ear
"He shall take you in His arms and hold you near."
