My mamma said I was full of piss and vinegar
there was no family pastor ,priest, or minister
to save me from my life of crime and wicked ways
my futures counted down not by years but simply days

Don't give up on me mamma for I see the light
and with God's love and grace someday I might
be someone special and share my light
my words are who I am and this is why I write

I'm still uncertain of what lies ahead
I might be jailed, shot or even dead
but I will leave behind these things I've said
I will live on in all the words that you've read

Don't give up on me mamma for I've seen light
and with God's love and grace someday I might
be someone special and share my light
my words are who I am and this is why I write
