A Soldier's Homecoming

Thu, 02/21/2013 - 21:57 -- Mary R.

sometimes

in those thousand single moments

beauty collides with fate

in delicate injustice-

painful regulation

and the absurdly terrifying sound of stillness:

eyes, once opened,

closed with no parenthesis,

and all that is left for me

to love

is the memory of blue eyes that no longer sweep the sky,

the echo of a forgotten song,

and a sullen black coffin adorned with stars.
