Sobriety

You said you loved me the most

when you weren't sober.

I asked you

why you can't love me without the aid

of a substance.

You said

that it's kind of hard to love anyone in your right mind

that under an influence you are free of judgment

and rational thought

sobriety is paired with a burdening conscious

that does its job too well.
