So Close It's Far

I am so close,
It seems a million miles away
Devoid of the means to make the distance
I lay stranded

So close, yet so far
Right in front of me,
Yet right out of my grasp,
She stands.

Not knowing what she thought
Never hearing her words describing me
That was greater pain than
The divide put between us

How does one conquer such obstacles?
How does one find the right words
The right actions,
To get the chances they did?

So close yet so far
Right in front of me,
Yet right out of my grasp
She stands.

The pain of not being
what felt like should have been,
falls heavy on my heart

Oh what a grand game this is
Back and forth
Never knowing
When do the games stop?

So close yet so far
Right in front of me,
Yet right out of my grasp
She stands.
